To create income-generating avenues for physically challenged people, BSRM CSR philanthropic desk has taken an initiative of setting up a shop for the Concern Services for Disabled (CSD) on the land allotted to CSD at No. 1 South Pahartali, Hathajari, by the University of Chittagong. CSD is a non-government organization founded in 1998.
Disability is a curse, and it creates poverty. People with disabilities are often among the poorest of the poor. It is estimated that about 12% of the total population of Bangladesh is disabled of which half a million is multi-handicapped.
A differently disabled person could thwart the lives of two beautiful youths. Income opportunity of a family member could prevent such avoidable crisis and place these boys in school for pursuing a meaningful life.
The construction of the shop is in progress, expect to complete by January 2018. The beneficiaries will be the 300 families who are members of CSD. “Shangkolpo (determination)”, is a shopping house to hold and sell the products manufactured, assembled, collected and produced by physically challenged and under privileged people supported by CSD and BSRM under its various programs.
